The Berlin musician Grafi mixes trap, horrorcore, and (black) metal as if it were the most natural thing in the world. His new album "Ektoplasma" will be released on May 15, 2020. The first single "Neptun" is now available along with its music video.
"Ektoplasma" is even more atmospheric and harder. However, the simultaneous accessibility of the songs clearly shows that Grafi has a clear goal in mind: to reach a larger audience for the first time with his extravagant and seemingly incompatible genre mix. And "Ektoplasma" indeed has all the prerequisites for that. It has become an experimental work, full of anger, pain, and hope. Within a stylistic mix of trap, rap, horrorcore, post-rock, and metal, Grafi tells dark, metaphorical stories filled with themes that concern an entire young generation: isolation, depression, hope, and love. This is commonly referred to as teenage angst. Or youth angst. The last artist to report so densely and atmospherically on the fears, pressures, and needs of a young generation was probably Casper on his classic breakthrough album "XOXO".

Grafi initially discovered rap music at a young teenage age. He wrote lyrics and crafted beats. Since he stood quite alone in his enthusiasm for hip-hop among his friends, he also opened up to the music of his friends: heavy metal. Metal became his great passion, and Grafi sang in several bands. However, the artist has never lost sight of his love for rap. Grafi increasingly became a wanderer between worlds. He feels equally comfortable in both genres and can almost display encyclopedic knowledge. In 2017, Grafi released his first self-produced album "Geistermusik". In 2018, "Unter Null" followed, which featured black metal elements and post-rock for the first time. Furthermore, Grafi worked with producer KCVS on this album, who also sat at the controls for the new album "Ektoplasma". Subsequently - the underground has long been aware of the phenomenon Grafi - the musician is increasingly implementing his concept live and is playing support shows for Haiyti, among others. Now, the new studio album "Ektoplasma" is set to catapult Grafi from the crypt into the hearts of the people.
