Lamb Of God from Richmond, Virginia will release their new album "Lamb Of God" on May 8, 2020. It is the first studio album from the five-time Grammy-nominated band from the USA in five years. The first single "Checkmate" has been available since February 6, 2020. In April, Lamb Of God will be performing live in eight cities in Germany and Switzerland together with Kreator.

Lamb Of God, awarded with two gold records and nominated for the Grammy five times, will release their new self-titled studio album on May 8, 2020. The band, led by singer and lyricist Randy Blythe, paused work on the new project to support the legendary Slayer on their final tour. After this long tour, Lamb Of God resumed the creative process and began production with their producer Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth). Guests on "Lamb Of God" include Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Chuck Billy (Testament).
"The fact that we are putting only our band name on the album cover is a statement," says Randy Blythe about the reason why the album is simply self-titled. "This is 'Lamb Of God'. Here and now!". The first single from it is called "Checkmate". "The song brings together all the components of the sound we have developed over the last two decades," explains guitarist Mark Morton. "With new energy and fresh fire ignited - that’s Lamb Of God 2020. We have never been more excited."
The band, existing under the name Lamb Of God since around the turn of the millennium, released the album "New American Gospel" in 2000. This was followed by "As The Palaces Burn" in 2003, which was included in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time". The successor "Ashes Of The Wake" from 2004 was the first Lamb Of God album to achieve gold status in the USA. The 2006 album "Sacrifice" was the band's first record to reach the Top 10 of the US Billboard charts. "Wrath" from 2009 even reached the Top 5. "Resolution" from 2012 and "VII: Sturm und Drang" from 2015 also reached the Top 5 of the US charts.
In spring 2020, Lamb Of God will embark on a European tour as co-headliners together with the German thrash legends Kreator and support band Powertrip under the title "State Of Unrest". The dates in Germany and Switzerland:
