"Darmstadt Echo" Police spokesperson Michael Prenzlow describes the sight of Luisenplatz on Sunday morning as a "picture of horror" after the last punks had made their way home following the so-called Savings Bank Party at Luisenplatz. Prenzlow: "The area around Langen Ludwig was covered with human and animal feces and vomit, littered with countless bottles and shards of glass." For about ten hours, up to 120 punks celebrated at Langen Lui, starting Saturday evening around 6 PM, according to the police report. Smaller groups, stocked with alcoholic beverages, moved back and forth between Lui and Wilhelminenplatz in front of the Kuppelkirche, prompting several upset citizens to call the police. Around 6:30 PM, there was an initial internal fight at Luisenplatz, during which a 20-year-old homeless man was injured and taken to the hospital, where he was arrested after treatment due to multiple outstanding warrants against him. He was taken to prison in Weiterstadt on Sunday. At 10:50 PM, the police had to intervene again due to another internal fight, says Prenzlow. Around 2 AM, a group of punks finally dismantled a bicycle parked in front of the Luisencenter into its individual parts and threw the remains into the fountain at Luisenplatz. An eighteen-year-old from Ranstadt (Wetteraukreis) was arrested as the main perpetrator and will have to answer for property damage in a criminal proceeding. Police found a stolen phone on a nineteen-year-old. He will have to answer for handling stolen goods. The punks' entry into the savings bank was prevented by the presence of a police officer who was present throughout the entire time, says police spokesperson Prenzlow. The so-called Savings Bank Parties are called for on the internet, and participants travel from near and far specifically for this. This was already the fourth meeting of its kind in Darmstadt since the beginning of the year.
