The state elections in 2016 revealed a shocking rightward shift in Sachsen-Anhalt - making it all the more important to create and maintain alternative spaces for lived solidarity and self-organized youth work in the East German province.
The sociocultural center Zora is an association that shows young people in Halberstadt alternatives to a consumer-oriented lifestyle under the principle of self-help and enables diverse, affordable, and meaningful leisure activities. Zora provides space for working group meetings, student initiatives, self-organized and non-commercial parties and bar nights, concerts, and many other ideas. The people behind it promote solidarity and organize projects that bring people together regardless of social status, origin, or religion.
Due to cuts in the social sector and youth work, numerous funds were already cut at the beginning of the year, making the financial survival of the sociocultural center uncertain. To continue, Zora needs your help & solidarity. Come to concerts or stop by for a cool drink, help out with solidarity performances from your band, or donate.
