P-P-P-P-P! Party, partisans, punk rock, poetry, and politics!
More captivating than ever, Italy's most successful ska band TALCO is back. On their new concept album "Silent Town," the Venetian sextet stands against the prevailing decay of Italian culture: politically relevant, lyrically charming. Their stylistic mix dubbed "Punk Chanka" conquers both heart and mind – resistance is futile.
It all began in the early 2000s in the Italian industrial wasteland of Marghera, just outside Venice, when TALCO, disgusted by the conditions under the Berlusconi government and the resulting agony of their generation, expressed their dissent through music. Their youthful and skate punk-like debut "Tutti Assolti," released in 2004, already gained attention beyond national borders and paved the way for the band far beyond local leftist and self-managed centers & squats or performances at demonstrations in neighboring cities to larger stages, even abroad. Driven by their charismatic frontman Dema, the band has always targeted the failures and corruption of political decision-makers, pouring salt into the wounds that fundamentally say: the lack of ethical and moral goals and visions of the political and economic elites. The following albums "Combat Circus" (2006) and "Mazel Tov" (2008) playfully combined political manifestos with a hefty dose of party.
