The band led by frontman Cäptn Suurbier a.k.a. Micha Wahler is the seed of German fun punk and was once home to musicians like Bela B. and Sahnie from Die Ärzte, Wölli Rohde from Die Toten Hosen, Beckmann from Rainbirds, and many others.
Micha Wahler unexpectedly passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2014. In his memory, former bandmates and companions have put together a lovingly crafted double vinyl album titled TEENAGE REBELL featuring 25 of his best songs. At the same time, the elaborately illustrated texts, personal stories, obituaries, and liner notes from his friends, including Fabsi (Weserlabel, Mimmis), Schorsch Kamerun (Goldene Zitronen), Rocko Schamoni, Hagen Liebing (Die Ärzte), and Wölli (Die Toten Hosen), offer a unique and previously unseen perspective on German (punk) rock history.
As if that weren't enough, his former band members Lu Kleff (among others, Strangemen), Beckmann (among others, Rainbirds), Stefan Overnight (among others, Overnight Angels), Tex Morton (among others, Mad Sin, Sunny Domestos, Lolitas), Ekki Busch (among others, Element Of Crime), and Hans Brandenburg have ensured that DIE SUURBIERS shine live again, and there will be several concerts for the release that you shouldn't miss:
21.03.2015 Berlin / Hafenbar Tegel - Record Release Party
28.04.2015 Berlin / Dodo Beach - Record Store Day
30.04.2015 Hamburg / Pudel - Dance into May
01.05.2015 Helgoland - Rock'n Roll Butterfahrt
The album TEENAGE REBELL is a non-commercial project made possible only through crowdfunding by the newly established non-profit association for Suurbier culture and craftsmanship e.V. and will be produced in a limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies.
