Bruce Springsteen meets Hot Snakes. Swans cover Pink Floyd. The more daring the comparisons to Restorations' "LP3", the better, believes the band from Philadelphia. Despite their adult age, the five musicians resist like rebellious teenagers against the imposed genre house arrest. Rebellious, yet always extremely clever and well-considered, the nine new songs come across – and are produced so incredibly well that they could fill the room with their bombastic sounds even if they were coming out of a tin can.
"LP3" is not simply a well-shaken mixture of all influences, but rather a collision, the impact at speeds of several hundred kilometers per hour, shoegaze and hardcore on a rollercoaster seat with post-punk and Americana. For example, compare the almost unabashedly classic rock sound of the opener "Wales" with the subtle, lyric-focused approach in the immediately following "Separate Songs" – clearly the same clever minds were at work here, yet so different spirits to which they breathe new life.
"LP3" will be released on October 31, 2014.
Exclusive, limited to 50 pieces vinyl (clear/blue starburst with tote bag) can now be pre-ordered through Finestvinyl:
