“What do you want to tell us with this!?” one might ask WELTRAUM POWER after watching their latest video for their fun punk hit “Fabis Zimmer.”
The answer is simple: The Berlin band led by singer Fabi Feuer (Yes, the Fabi who also plays in KOTZREIZ and not coincidentally lives in “Fabis Zimmer”…) dedicates an entire song to the probably most important place of their musical career, taking neither lyrical connections nor themselves too seriously. It rhymes? Cool! Name-dropping? Can’t hurt! Chaotic? Awesome! It’s only consistent that neighbor and park bench buddy from old days “Casper” (Yes, he really lives next door!) makes a guest appearance, of which he probably wasn’t even aware until now.
The song reflects what has been happening for many years in this 15 sqm space in Berlin-Friedrichshain. Hundreds of songs and song corpses that were composed, written, celebrated, and forgotten during nights of sessions in this room.
But the place stands for much more than just writing songs and home recording: It’s about friendship, parties, excess, and the joy of music – and that is ultimately what “Fabis Zimmer” wants to tell us.
