Living band friendship: The two bands Leitkegel (Essen) and I Like Ambulance (Berlin) are going on the "Schall & Rauchen Tour 2014". The tour follows a joint split EP that was released in January as a 7" by the Hamburg label My Favourite Chords. The musicians know each other well and are looking forward to a class trip across the country.
Leitkegel are not particularly fond of limitations. Therefore, they only accept box thinking when they are cleaning out their dressers at home. Is this Emo, Postrock, still Hardcore, or already Punk again? Call it what you want. Leitkegel are definitely quite unique in a pleasant way. Somewhere between concentration and ecstasy, between intensity and absurdity. If you absolutely need references, you can find them with Yage and Hot Cross just as much as with Gallows or Turbostaat. In November 2013, an EP collection disguised as an album titled "Raketenwissenschaft" (Colline Noire/Broken Silence) was released. In January, the split 7" with their Berlin heartthrobs came out. In February, the sampler "Gleiches Unrecht für Alle" (My Favourite Chords/Broken Silence) will be released, to which Leitkegel contributed an unpublished track titled "Vierzehn Ecken".
I Like Ambulance are not quite as poppy as Madonna, not quite as noisy as Converge, not quite as rhythmic as Mars Volta, not quite as melancholic as Sunny Day Real Estate, not quite as punky as GG Allin, not quite as romantic as Death Cab For Cutie, but they still write melancholic-melodic indie punk gems that will burn themselves into your brain forever.
