"Young, Talentless & Cast": the notorious debut album of the polarizing Berlin Gesamtkunstwerk collective is finally available again as a reissue and for the first time ever as a regular vinyl pressing!
With the album title, the Wasted Girls (and Boys) clearly established their stance: music connoisseurs, know-it-alls, and trend scouts are sent packing right from the start, allowing for a carefree celebration.
Released in 2010 on the groundbreaking label BEAT THE RICH, the album, along with the first single “Ich Und Mein Pony” (which preceded a rapid success story on the internet), became a real eye-catcher.
The show-hungry crew around founders LUISE FUCKFACE and DR. LYNN LOVE wildly combined electro beats with Eurodisco trash, wave and punk minimalism with catchy sugar pop, and wonderfully cheeky yet never truly dumb lyrics.
The accompanying image, which promo agents would have turned green with envy over, was developed almost incidentally through “growing up in public” and “learning by doing” - from the very beginning, they skillfully played with an almost painfully self-ironic gesture, glamorous trash lifestyle, overflowing hedonism, and a big mouth that must have gone to school with HANS-A-PLAST and NEONBABIES.
The 15 songs on “Young, Talentless & Cast”, including true hits like "Crackhurentanz", "Ich hab keinen Spass", "Wir hassen Sport" or "Katzenfleisch", which sparked as much enthusiasm as horror somewhere between Ballermann anthem and AUDIOLITH electropunk, showcase a band with fighting spirit, anger, and style on the elegantly chosen third path between underground coolness and mass compatibility.
The first 500 LPs come in toxic green vinyl (the record was previously only available as a fan club pressing limited to 100 copies).
