The Korean superstar Yiruma releases a new piano album
Yiruma - this name stands for sensitive and dreamy music that touches and inspires people of all ages around the world. In his South Korean homeland, the pianist and composer Yiruma, born in Seoul in 1978, is already a superstar and fills venues with tens of thousands of listeners. With his beautifully dreamy piano piece "River Flows In You," he has achieved worldwide popularity since 2010. Originally intended as a soundtrack for the "Twilight" film series, "River Flows In You" reached number one positions in numerous single charts.
Yiruma manages the great feat of captivating both classical and pop listeners alike. Following the release of his 2012 "Best of" album, Yiruma now presents his new album "Stay in Memory," for which he has written twelve new pieces. With each of these sensitive pieces, he seamlessly connects to his other worldwide hits like "Kiss The Rain" and "May Be."
"Nocturne" and "Impromptu" are the titles of some of his pieces. With this, he acknowledges the significant influence of the Polish piano romantic Frédéric Chopin, who enchanted audiences in the 19th century with his "Nocturnes." Yiruma achieves this in the 21st century with his poetically gentle melodies. Melancholic and intimate, Yiruma explores the moods in his "Nocturnes." Then again, he transforms a piece like "Falling in Love" into a touching jazz ballad. Overall, the stylistic boundaries are always fluid with Yiruma. This leads to slight waltz hints with Viennese charm ("Nocturne No. 4"), as well as wonderfully nostalgic pop anthems ("Days Will Not Come Back").
With "Stay in Memory," Yiruma has once again succeeded in creating an album that will captivate his huge fan base around the globe. And especially his German fans can look forward to a special event. On April 5, Yiruma will give his long-awaited live debut in Germany with an exclusive concert at the Passionskirche in Berlin.
