afmusic releases the four-CD download compilation "Quintessenz" as a free download today, August 6th. This compilation features 63 bands from 16 countries, providing a comprehensive overview of the still short history of the label afmusic, which was founded in 2008 as a netlabel and continues to offer netlabel releases under free licenses for free download alongside commercial releases.
"Quintessenz" offers fans of the genres Alternative, Gothic Rock, Dark Wave, Post Punk, Indie, New Wave, Electronic, and Experimental a broad cross-section of the bands that afmusic has collaborated with from 2009 to 2011. From underground bands to well-known artists like RHOMBUS, CHRISTINE PLAYS VIOLA, THE SEARCH, PRINCIPE VALIENTE, THE FOREIGN RESORT, or EMERALD PARK, the compilation features a diverse mix away from the mainstream.
"Quintessenz" impressively demonstrates that even small indie labels can work internationally in today's age of globalization, thanks to modern technology. What started as a small netlabel is now a fixed entity in the European Gothic Rock and Indie scene that is not easily overlooked.
