These irons are hot! The Street Gigs invite you to the punk shift in the Gießhalle of Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord. Where hard steel was once cast, hard rocking will take place on April 28. Three major alternative institutions will grace the Telekom Street Gigs Punkrock Special. The Swedish hardcore punk band Refused announces their reunion after 14 years and will celebrate their European premiere On Stage this weekend. Also joining are the German alternative favorites Donots, as well as the ultimate scene heroes of Californian punk rock, Lagwagon.
Socially critical lyrics and a distinctive sound mix of punk, metal, and hardcore - this is the trademark of the Swedish hardcore punk band Refused. Founded in 1992, they achieved worldwide success in just four years of existence. With success came media hype. The flip side was that Refused felt misunderstood by the media. They played their last concert in 1998 in Virginia. 14 years later, they are back. Street Gigs fans can look forward to this, as the guys will play in Europe for the first time this weekend since their reunion. The Donots have been active for almost 20 years, contrary to their self-ironic band name. Well-known hits like "What ever happened to the 80's" or "We're Not Gonna Take It" and a consistently passionate stage performance ensure plenty of fire under the Street Gigs' behinds! A lot of hardcore and a big portion of punk - that's the sound of Lagwagon. They achieved international breakthrough with the album "Hoss" released in 1995.
