STEFANIE HEINZMANN will release her new, self-titled album on 16.03.12. The range of the new songs is broader than ever before: The first single “Diggin‘ in the Dirt” surprises with an infectious rhythm and shameless earworm appeal, while “Everyone’s Lonely” finds emotional nuances between the lines of an elegant ballad. This song comes from none other than Jamie Cullum, who is more than thrilled with what Stefanie has made of it. He says: "Stefanie has truly made the song her own - I love it". “This Old Heart of Mine” briefly stops by Motown, “Coming Up For Air” flirts successively with luxurious strings and lively up-tempo embellishments, and “Show Me the Way” celebrates pure pop in timeless attire. And that still leaves much unsaid about “Fire,” the breathtaking opener of the album, which encapsulates Stefanie Heinzmann’s entire talent in four intense minutes.
“When we had the song ‘Diggin’ in the Dirt’ in May, we knew where the album was going,” she explains. “The song doesn’t reflect the entire LP, but it gave me an inner calm. The wheel began to roll.” The lyrics may still contain shadows of Stefanie’s time of suffering, but the melodies already leave no doubt that it is now over. Or as it says in “Not at all”: “I’m up on the edge but I won’t fall.”
As different as the thirteen songs on Stefanie Heinzmann’s album are, they unmistakably belong to their interpreter. Everything on the album is real, just as Stefanie, despite her remarkable career, has essentially remained the girl from the Wallis: authentic, natural, and approachable. It has to be this way, because only by staying true to oneself can one sing songs in a way that truly touches…
