It has been a full 35 years since The Stranglers released their debut "Rattus Norvegicus“ and since then they have been able to celebrate success after success. 23 Top 40 singles (including "Always The Sun“, "Golden Brown“, "Peaches“), 17 Top 40 albums, and consistently sold-out world tours are the best examples of this.
Fans had to wait a whole six years for the 17th album. And "Giants“ rightly carries its name! The Stranglers have, without exaggeration, created a masterpiece that recalls their old days; full of punk and roughness, but at the same time it carries the lightness of rock and pop from later days within it. Without a doubt, "Giants“ is a classic The Stranglers album, yet the band has never sounded more alive, never more dynamic, never younger. JJ Burnel (bass) and Baz Warne (guitar) share the vocal passages and are in great shape like never before. Jet Black (drums) and Dave Greenfield (keyboards) provide the characteristic The Stranglers sound, including the typical bass lines and the prominent keyboards. But that's not all – the 10-song strong album surprises with a tango and the band's first instrumental song in over 20 years. What a comeback!
The limited edition is available as a high-quality 2CD edition with an acoustic performance by the band from November 2011.
