WATERDOWN: New Album & Farewell at the Same Time

One of the most internationally influential German hardcore bands is calling it quits. Waterdown will release their fourth and simultaneously last album on 03/23/2012. "Into The Flames" comes out after three albums with Victory Records on Uncle M, the new record label from the established Side One Dummy Records environment. After thirteen years, these will be the last recordings that Waterdown will release.
On their website, the Ibbenbüren band has published a farewell letter in which the band says thank you & goodbye, without looking back sadly: "After 13 years and over 600 shows in Germany, England, Scotland, Wales, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia, and the USA, we think we have said almost everything with Waterdown and certainly achieved more than we could ever dream of." After the first EP "Drawasmilingface" was released in 2000 and a year later the now classic debut album "Never Kill The Boy On The First Date" came out on Victory, Waterdown was regarded worldwide as part of the first wave of bands that combined hardcore and emo songwriting, sung and screamed parts. However, with the following albums and EPs, Waterdown moved further away from this scene and pursued their own thing. Returning to their roots in metal, punk, and hardcore, away from a new wave of imitators who pushed the concept to the point of absurdity and made "screamo" a dirty word.
With their last album, Waterdown can no longer be categorized; they simply say goodbye with two handfuls of honest, great songs that break down or completely ignore genre boundaries. In April and May, there will be seven farewell shows, then it's over.
