Loaded impress with “Bloodshot Forget-Me-Nots” featuring punk rock anthems of the finest kind
On October 28, “Bloodshot Forget-Me-Nots” will be released as the fifth album by Loaded for the first time on Rookie Records. Four and a half years have passed since “Hold Fast,” a time the band members have not only used for personal growth. With the new longplayer, which Rookie Records is releasing on both CD and vinyl, the power trio achieves their masterpiece. The Mannheim band, led by exiled American Nick, gifts us 13 songs that are bursting with speed, passion, and power - truly the best punk attitude. We are reminded of The Clash with the energy of The Specials and the drinking prowess of The Pogues. Additionally, the trio combines captivating choruses of classic punk and Oi!, sweat-inducing ska grooves, and untamed rock’n’roll punch with honest lyrics to create a sound that is rarely heard anymore. Straightforward, fast, hard.
What began as a tribute to Operation Ivy and evolved over the years into stylish street punk is better than ever after 15 years. In the first tracks, Nick's Californian past shines through: the choruses sound like sun-soaked beach punk with exquisite guitar work. In between, Loaded embark on ska and dub reggae excursions, more beautiful than ever, with the guitarist sprinkling in fabulous rockabilly licks and folky punk that remind us of The Pogues as well as newer Dropkick Murphys. The intelligent and socially critical lyrics reflect the influence of Strummer and Waits.
And still, time and again, it’s about that special feeling of turning the volume all the way up, feeling immense, and enjoying that one special moment: unforgettable like the very first kiss, unnecessary like the first fight, impressive like the first hangover, and as significant as the first music that truly means something to you and has changed your life.
