Chuck Ragan's new album "Covering Ground" will be released on September 16, 2011, via Sideonedummy Records. The album was recorded this year
between three different tours at the Fireside Sound Studios in Silverlake, California, with producer Christopher Thorn (Blind Melon) and once again mixes Ragan's influences from bluegrass, folk, roots, and Southern Baptist gospel. Alongside Ragan, Jon Gaunt on violin and Joe Ginsberg on double bass completed the band.
In the spirit of Chuck Ragan's understanding of the blues tradition, various renowned guest musicians can be heard on the record. Among them: Todd Beene (Lucero) on pedal steel guitar, Chris Philipps from Squirrel Nut Zippers on drums, and guest singers Audra Mae, Brian Fallon (from The Gaslight Anthem), and Frank Turner.
With Hot Water Music, Chuck Ragan will be in Europe for almost the entire month of August before he returns in October for the Revival Tour alongside Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Dan Adriano (Alkaline Trio), and Dave Hause (The Loved Ones).
