"You know that nothing can hold you and your boys back from now on, that it’s time for change, because soon you will be an old man.
We are young, we are free, this is our city, we have nothing to lose ... Better to burn than to freeze!”
(alternatively: The Who, Neil Young, Duran Duran, Nirvana, Fettes Brot)
It may be that the group Fettes Brot has declared a comprehensive break for an indefinite period. Their songs, once unleashed, know no such boundaries. During the last concert tour through the local multi-purpose venues in late autumn 2010, this secret Strom & Drang anthem was sharpened into the deadly indie disco sword that now opens up the space between our ears and frees our behinds at the same time. Sexy, cutting, and yet vulnerable, a head voice squeezes out words that taste of rebellion:
„You take your anger to the streets, which you chase like dogs. You know it’s worth fighting for, because injustice remains unavenged.”
The result: Nothing less than a new "My Generation", the eternally valid better to burn out than to fade away, or simply the overdue "Wild Boys" battle cry for the blood-young 10s. Recognized and borrowed from the Oscar-winning filmmaker Pepe Danquart (who doesn’t love at least his Tour De France documentary "Höllentour"?) for his current cinema contribution "Joschka und Herr Fischer" - a 140-minute quest tracing his long slalom run to himself, through the stages of his 60-year biography, shaped in and by Germany.
