Finally, the time has come: The fifth studio album by Flogging
Molly is ready to launch! “Speed Of Darkness” will be released on May 27,
2011, on the band's own label Borstal Beat Records (distributed by
Cargo Records).
“Speed Of Darkness” is the eagerly awaited successor to the
hit album "Float", which debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard Charts and at
number 41 on the German album charts, selling nearly
100,000 copies across Europe. The 12 songs were recorded by
successful producer Ryan Hewitt (among others, Red Hot Chilli Peppers) - without a doubt,
it is the most surprising release yet from the 7-member
folk/punk band.
Flogging Molly now reveals the tracklist for "Speed Of Darkness"
and the unusual artwork designed by Dino Misetic.´

“Speed Of Darkness” was written over several months in Motorcity
Detroit, the epicenter of America's economic decline.
The industrial city, long since become a symbol of crisis, greed, and
ignorance, served as inspiration for the band's critique of
economic and social injustices on both sides of the
Atlantic. Nevertheless, the songs are bursting with confidence and
optimism. “Speed Of Darkness” is not a hopeless farewell to
Western civilization, but rather invokes solidarity and
motivates the listener to keep going and persevere.
