There was a lot of hype beforehand about Gracia's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. She became known for her appearance on the RTL show Deutschland sucht den Superstar, where she was eliminated in fifth place. However, this already secured her a record deal with Sony BMG. After initial successes, a long dry spell followed, prompting the new record label Bros Music to restart her career. In an effort to achieve a chart entry, the management bought their own records, leading to a highly publicized scandal in the German music scene. Only the resulting chart success qualified Gracia for the German preliminary round, which she was able to win. In the recently concluded European final, things did not go as well, as she finished last with only 4 points. This was the worst result that German performers, who have not been truly competitive in this music competition for a long time, have achieved since 1995 with "Stone & Stone". The winner was Helena Paparizou from Greece with the song "My Number One".
