Among those affected are Herbert Grönemeyer, whose hit "Männer" was quickly rewritten to "Schnappi" by Kerbel and Co., Reinhard Mey, AC/DC with "Highway To Nil", and Rammstein. While AC/DC showed enthusiasm and had a corresponding tape sent to them, the latter seem less pleased and obtained a temporary injunction against Kerbel's version from the Hamburg Regional Court, a station spokesperson told Netzeitung.
And this is despite the fact that little Joy recently came out as a Rammstein fan. When pressed by entertainer Stefan Raab, she affirmed: "They’re not that bad at all." Others find the rock band's reaction absolutely exaggerated. Thomas Stein commented in an RTL interview: "Entertainment means entertainment." And that also includes a "certain parody." MTV host Patrice described the guys around Rammstein singer Till Lindemann as "very sensitive artists."
However, the Berlin team around Jürgen Kerbel is not deterred by this. "We will definitely be doing more cover versions," Kerbel announced to RTL. "We are also considering making a CD," he added in the current "Schnappi" mania. On the station's website, versions by Falco, the Comedian Harmonists, Tarkan, Scooter, Marius Müller-Westernhagen, AC/DC, Reinhard May, Annett Louisan, Herbert Grönemeyer, as well as by Vader Abraham and the Smurfs are currently available.
