Green Day offers five blank CD-Rs in their online store. These are printed with the artwork of the albums "Dookie", "Nimrod", "Warning", and the new "American Idiot". They are available for $7.99 (5.83 Euros), with additional shipping costs for orders outside the USA. This offer is not intended as a call for piracy. It is aimed at customers of commercial music download services like Apple iTunes, who do not want to save their expensive music on ugly standard discs. Whether this strategy will work is questionable, given that downloaded albums often cost at least 9.99 Euros, and their copy protection frequently prevents burning to CD. However, perhaps some money can be made from those who would obtain the songs anyway from file-sharing networks.
