By Friday afternoon, still nothing, so I made another call. The lady wanted my phone number, saying her colleague would get back to me soon. Friday evening, still no callback. So I called again to find out what was going on. I was told that their connection to the exchange was fine, but now the line from there to me needed to be checked. Since it was Friday and the technicians only work Monday to Friday, I would have to be patient. However, on Monday, I had to attend a training until Wednesday, so I left a phone number for the technicians to contact me if they had questions. They did call, saying the line to me was also fine, but they needed to take a look at my setup. So, without my knowledge, a technician was let into my apartment, took a quick look at my DSL modem, and said it was defective. There was no longer any warranty on it, and I should buy a new one at the next T-Shop. By the way, he would have to charge me for his time, as it was my fault.
Wednesday evening, I returned home, listened to the story, and first picked up the phone. How can he come by and then charge me for it? I would have liked to know that beforehand; he could have stayed where the pepper grows. That would have to be answered by the respective colleague himself; maybe he works again on Friday, and I should try again then. I tried today, Thursday, seven days after the problem occurred, to check my internet again and found that this "technician" had simply wired the modem incorrectly during his visit. So I plugged the cable into the correct socket, and lo and behold, it works! How was that, the line works, but my modem is broken? I look forward to speaking with you in person tomorrow, Mr. Technician N.
In this context, I can also mention that the domain p-u-n-k.de will be down for a few hours in the coming days. A server move is pending, which will also bring a new feature. Stay tuned. The site can still be accessed directly during the move via http://scram.de/musik.
