Summer was just around the corner when I had already announced it. Now it’s icy cold outside, and I am fulfilling my promise, p-u-n-k.de is dead and will never be back. This will be the last news entry on this page; in the coming days, I will install the test version of the new RamTatTa here. Extensive testing is still necessary, and hopefully, one or two people will want to help out. Then a few new features will be added until the site eventually replaces the old RamTatTa.
Why must p-u-n-k.de go, is it time for sentimentality? No, everything has an end. Just as p-u-n-k.de replaced the old punk music site in mid-2003, it is once again time for something new. The participation of visitors here has continued to dwindle despite rising statistics, while today’s punks prefer to share all their personal data on MySpace and Facebook.
In the coming days, the site will be taken offline for the move. Afterwards, I hope to see the loyal visitors again at RamTatTa. We are always looking for motivated reporters who would like to contribute concert reports, album reviews, or interviews. Show me that the D.I.Y. spirit is still alive.
A few statistics
- 1,412 news articles with 3,521 comments
- 375 interviews, mostly audio interviews from Kamikaze Radio
- 7,530 members since mid-2003
- 603 registered bands with 1,062 free MP3 downloads
- 1,052 forum threads with a total of 34,325 posts
Not counted are the many, many, many hours of work I have put into this. Normally one to two hours daily, but there have also been entire weekends and vacations spent on it. Additionally, quite a bit of money has gone into the site, yet p-u-n-k.de has always remained completely ad-free.
Goodbye
