Despite their own financial troubles, the SO36 is thinking of those for whom the survival of a music club is far less important than their very existence. The poorest country in the Western Hemisphere was struck by the natural disaster of the most severe earthquake in two centuries. The catastrophe claimed at least 180,000 lives and left 200,000 injured, with countless people losing their homes. Now it is up to the wealthy nations of this world to help the victims of the earthquake.
"X-Berg for Haiti" is a privately organized benefit event funded by Kreuzberg restaurateurs and retailers through donations and sponsorships. Kreuzberg is thus showing its solidarity as an alternative district.
On February 4th, as many generous music lovers as possible are expected to gather at SO36 for a colorful music program featuring many Berlin bands for a good cause. Since every cent counts, the organizers want to ensure that the money reaches those who need it most.
Therefore, the proceeds from the concert will not be donated to a mass organization, but to the Berlin organization "HaitiCare e.V.", which has been working in Haiti for 20 years and is specifically focused on providing initial care for 200 school children and their families on-site.
The bands and organizers are waiving fees and wages to ensure that as much as possible goes to the good cause. The donations and sponsorships from Kreuzberg shops cover the concert's costs, and the entire 10 Euro admission goes directly to those in need.
The event kicks off at 7:00 PM with seven favorite bands from Kreuzberg.
