After the authorities in Oberhausen prevented the Punk im Pott Festival last year due to safety concerns, forcing a last-minute move to Berlin, this year it returns to the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen. The concerns of the authorities have been resolved, allowing the advance ticket sales for December 27 and 28, 2009, to begin. Some high-profile participants have already been confirmed, with more to follow. Due to the strong audience turnout in previous years, there will be no box office this time. So, it's only worth traveling with tickets in hand.

Official Statement Why was Punk im Pott banned last year in the Turbinenhalle / Oberhausen and is allowed to take place there again this year?
Some of you may be wondering how this is possible.
Here are a few background details:
The 9th Punk im Pott Festival on December 28 and 29, 2007, was an absolute blast.
In the Turbinenhalle, people celebrated peacefully and excessively for 2 days.
Outside the hall, people gathered who could not get tickets because the festival was already sold out.
During the first evening, several fire trucks arrived in the parking lot of the Turbinenhalle because a false alarm was triggered in the hall.
The firefighters were then pelted with bottles and stones by some idiots.
This caused significant damage, but fortunately, no one was injured.
How stupid such behavior is, especially since the firefighters were there to help and would save your life in an emergency, should not need to be mentioned!!
We were appalled, and the firefighters probably were too.
The 10th anniversary PiP Festival was subsequently banned by the authorities at short notice.
At that time, we did not have enough time to convince the authorities that it was a
fundamentally peaceful event, so we had to move the festival to Berlin.
Punk im Pott (in exile) was a nice festival, but somehow not the same as in Oberhausen.
For us, it was clear: We have to return to the Pott!
This year, we have planned several improvements that will benefit everyone and have been very positively received by the authorities, the police, and the firefighters.
1). There are finally combo tickets! This will speed things up at the box office, as no longer two tickets need to be scanned per person.
When purchasing a combo ticket, you save 2.50 euros compared to previous years,
as you only pay the advance sale fee once and we have made the ticket one euro cheaper.
Day tickets will still be available.
2). Shuttle buses will run from Oberhausen train station to Punk im Pott!
You simply step off the train into the shuttle bus and will be dropped off right at the entrance;
and it's even for free. No one will freeze while waiting anymore. ... genius, right?
3.) There will be no more box office! In recent years, more and more people had to stay outside because the hall
was too full. We want to spare you that. Get your tickets in advance! It's super easy through our shop and has always been cheaper
than at the box office.
Finally, we want to say that we are really looking forward to Oberhausen and will not let anyone ruin the party for us.
Troublemakers have NO place with us. Stay at home!
