...on Saturday, October 11th starting at 2:00 PM
Civil rights activists are calling nationwide for participation in a demonstration against the rampant surveillance by businesses and the state. On Saturday, October 11, 2008, concerned citizens will take to the streets in Berlin under the motto "Freedom instead of Fear - Stop the Surveillance Madness!" The meeting point is Alexanderplatz at 2:00 PM.
The surveillance madness is spreading. The state and companies are increasingly registering, monitoring, and controlling us. No matter what we do, with whom we speak or call, where we move or travel, with whom we are friends, what we are interested in, in which groups we are engaged - the "big brother" state and the "little brothers and sisters" from the economy know it more and more precisely. The resulting lack of privacy and confidentiality endangers the freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of the press, freedom of association, corporate integrity, and the work of doctors, counseling services, and lawyers.
