The formation Freunde Der Italienischen Oper, founded in Dresden in 1987, is back with fresh material: Their new studio album "Angelus Luminis" will be released on October 3, 2026, as a CD and vinyl LP through Major Label.
The quintet, led by charismatic frontman, filmmaker, and photographer Ray van Zeschau, looks back on a tumultuous history in the late DDR underground. Their unmistakable sound – a bold mix of dark wave, post-punk, indie rock, chanson noir, and dramatic tenor singing – also shapes the eleven new tracks. The work promises a multifaceted blend of irony, cross-references, and aesthetic coherence.
