"How beautiful it is here" is possibly the bravest, but certainly one of the most important songs from the new Danger Dan piano album "No Fear" (release date 02.10.2026). A song that had to be written.
There are these very special songs and stories that you instinctively know you have to tell someday, but you tend to postpone them. Out of shame, consideration, or fear of the consequences. Because the topic might seem too private or you are still too deep into something. Nevertheless, deep down you know: At some point, I have to write this song. It is a part of me, belongs to my story.
One such song is "How beautiful it is here", the third single released today from the new and second Danger Dan piano album "No Fear".
"From a whole series of experiences and encounters leading up to the album production, I was able to gather the courage for some topics that I had long known I had to address," says Danger Dan. "For a song about my eye disease, for example, there had never been the right moment, but now it was clear: When else?"
"How beautiful it is here" is a wonderfully poignant ballad that tells of Danger Dan's struggle with retinitis pigmentosa for many years, a rare retinal degeneration disease that eventually leads to blindness. By waiting for the right moment and not writing "How beautiful it is here" out of the pain of the initial diagnosis, but from the sovereignty he has gained in dealing with the illness, the topic and the song have grown far beyond himself.
In "How beautiful it is here", Danger Dan describes how he received the diagnosis in his mid-20s, how long the path to acceptance was, and how he recognized the beauty of the world through it, giving this personal moment a universal power.
