On September 11 and 12, 2026, it will once again be: Folk, medieval & rock unite by the Rhine-Herne Canal, as the Folkfield Festival takes place for the fourth time in the Amphitheater in Gelsenkirchen. What started in 2022 has long since become a fixed meeting point for fans of folk-rock, medieval sounds, and energetic shows – and 2026 will be bigger, louder, and more captivating than ever.
Schandmaul invites as proud hosts to the Amphitheater Gelsenkirchen, to indulge in folk and medieval rock with friendly bands against a vibrant backdrop. With the Folkfield Festival, Schandmaul has quickly managed to establish a new scene event for the folk and medieval community.
One can look forward to a line-up that leaves nothing to be desired: As headliners and hosts, Schandmaul will be at the center of the festival on both evenings. With poetic lyrics, captivating energy, and charismatic stage presence, they create unforgettable moments and invite their audience to dance, dream, and celebrate. They have also invited high-profile guests: Fiddler’s Green, who have been delivering thrilling speedfolk shows full of Celtic melodies and punk attitude for decades, as well as Subway To Sally, whose unmistakable mix of folk, metal, and dark romance ensures spectacular festival moments.
Wind Rose makes the earth tremble with their epic sagas. Rauhbein and Doppelbock provide hearty rock with heart and attitude, while Irdorath enchants with mystical sounds and Deus Vult adds a hefty dose of impact to the festival. More acts will be added.
With its unique location right by the water, the unmistakable atmosphere, and two days full of music, friendship, and unforgettable moments, the Folkfield Festival 2026 will be a must-attend event for all who love folk and medieval rock. There will also be a medieval market.
