"Voll daneben, halb OK" is already the third advance single from the upcoming Massendefekt album "Massendefekt". The song was released on June 26, 2026, with the album following on September 11, 2026.
After the previously released singles "Allein" and "Brandung", Massendefekt once again present themselves personally and approachable. "Voll daneben, halb OK" describes the feeling of chasing one's own expectations while still not giving up. Too much thought, too little action, already having the next plan in mind – the song tells of the contradictions that arise when ambition and reality don't always align.
Musically, the band strikes a tone that is both forward-moving and allows space for the lyrics. The chorus sticks because it doesn't sugarcoat anything. "Ich bin voll daneben, halb ok" sounds not like self-abandonment, but like a new beginning: the will to change something, the courage to accept one's own mistakes and still move forward – with a healthy dose of self-irony.
The band comments: "The song is not a reckoning with oneself. Quite the opposite. At some point, you have to accept that not every plan works out and not every decision is the right one. 'Voll Daneben, Halb Ok' describes exactly this moment – and the realization that this can be perfectly fine."

25 years MASSENDEFEKT. Ten albums. And a moment when a band can decide: reflection or new beginnings.
MASSENDEFEKT clearly chooses the latter. Their new album is not coincidentally named after themselves – "MASSENDEFEKT" is not a best-of, not a nostalgic look back, but a statement. An expression of what this band has stood for for a quarter of a century: attitude, friendship, and the desire to stand together on stage.
Visually, the artwork captures this thought: four faces merge into one – a strong image of solidarity, development, and shared history. A visual anchor for 25 years of the band.
Musically, the album is as direct and unfiltered as it has been in a long time. With the clear intention of simply doing what they feel like, the band entered the studio. Produced and recorded mostly independently, a work emerged that is close to the band and the moment. The creative process was as free and intense as rarely before, resulting in a correspondingly high yield of songs. Michael Czernicki took care of the mix and master, giving the album the necessary pressure: fresh, direct, and to the point.
"This time, there was no big master plan for the production. We just wanted to make the songs we really feel like – and that’s exactly why the record feels so multifaceted."
For the anniversary, a limited double vinyl will also be released: in addition to the album, it contains a second work with twelve reinterpretations of MASSENDEFEKT songs – realized by friend bands and long-time companions. Each act chooses a song from the band and gives it their own unique touch. Without guidelines and without limits, new perspectives on the existing material emerge, allowing familiar songs to appear in a completely new light. The participating artists will be announced gradually.

2026 is all about a special anniversary for Massendefekt: the band celebrates its 25th anniversary – and is hitting the road with its own anniversary tour. Under the title "25 LIVE," the band will play eleven selected shows across Germany starting in October.
Massendefekt looks back not only on a quarter-century of band history but also presents themselves as energetic as rarely before. The "25 LIVE" tour brings together songs from all phases and showcases exactly what Massendefekt has been known for live for years: clear edges, direct contact with the audience, and evenings that are musically and atmospherically on point. An exclusive tour support will be announced later.
A special highlight will be the closing concert on December 12, 2026, at the Düsseldorf Stahlwerk. There, not only does the anniversary tour "25 LIVE" come to an end – the band will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of their successful double album "Tangodiesel" that evening. Two milestones in one night that reflect the band's history from the early years to today and create an extraordinary finale for long-time and new fans alike.
