The Dutch punk and rock ’n’ roll powerhouse JOHN COFFEY is back. With "Hang The Choir," the band released their first single on June 17, 2026, via Long Branch Records – loud, uncompromising, and full of energy.

Musically, the track delivers exactly what JOHN COFFEY has been celebrated for over the years: heavy riffs, catchy hooks, and the collective chaos that makes their songs so distinctive. At the same time, there’s a moving story behind the force.
"Hang The Choir" was inspired by Jacky Roozen, a woman who was banned from swimming topless in a public pool after undergoing a double mastectomy. Instead of accepting this, she made her case public and resolutely fought against discrimination and for self-determination.
The story became the starting point for a song about exclusion, societal norms, and the courage to stand up for change.
"The fight for change and equality always meets with fierce resistance," says the band. "Being different is often perceived as a threat, and the consequence is exclusion. Sure, no supposed witches are being burned at the stake anymore, and metalheads are no longer automatically seen as the personification of evil. But there’s always someone who has to serve as a scapegoat or is rejected for who they are. Just because that’s what the prevailing societal norm demands. We probably all know someone like that."
After celebrated festival appearances on the biggest European stages, JOHN COFFEY has long been one of the most explosive live bands in Europe.
"Hang The Choir" is now available on all streaming platforms. On August 8, the band will perform at the new Amplifire Festival in Hamburg, before heading out on an extensive club tour through Europe in autumn. Two shows in Germany, in Cologne and Berlin, have already been confirmed.
