"The Evolution Of A Cro-Magnon" is the autobiography of New York hardcore legend John "Bloodclot" Joseph. In his book, he recounts both the difficult times in his life and his salvation. A traumatic childhood during which he was abused in foster homes was just the beginning of his personal evolution. Before becoming the singer and frontman of one of the most important and influential punk and hardcore bands of all time – the Cro-Mags – John lived on the streets of New York from the late 70s to the early 80s and had to fight for survival every day. Even the success of his band could not protect him from a relapse that brought him back to an absolute low point. The book is a raw and uncompromising autobiography about drug addiction, betrayal, and life on the streets. John does not attempt to romanticize or glorify his life - "The Evolution Of A Cro-Magnon" is the unflinching account of an outsider who had to fight hard to get to where he is today.
