With his new album "Nothing Left Behind," which will be released on January 23, 2026, by Jazzhaus Records, Danny Bryant opens the most personal chapter of his career to date. The British guitarist and singer-songwriter, a staple in European blues rock for over two decades, presents a work that is both a new beginning and an evolution - musically and personally.
When asked if there was an overarching theme in the songwriting, an energetic and vital Bryant answers without hesitation in the interview: "The album is about my rehabilitation and how I changed my life." Thematically, "Nothing Left Behind" is a very personal work. It is a remarkable openness with which the Brit speaks about his past, about the years when alcohol and restlessness dominated his life. However, "Nothing Left Behind" is not a dark album; on the contrary. "It has become a rather positive and motivating album - that was important to us," he says. "The songs simply reflect my new perspective."
"It's not a departure from what I've done so far," says Bryant. "It's an evolution. Particularly regarding the band's sound, but also the songwriting in general: there are some surprises that you haven't heard from me before - new facets that develop quite naturally from the familiar without denying it. It's a step forward, a conscious change that still remains deeply rooted in my origins." "Nothing Left Behind" expands the artist's characteristic sound with new colors, dynamic arrangements, and an audible range that draws from the energy of a grown collective. The five musicians are all integral parts of the band - and that was the vision in the studio: to create an album that sounds just as vibrant live as it does on record. This very question of how the album's sound should be was at the beginning of the process. "We wanted to make an album that we can play live," Bryant explains. "With five people on stage, we can actually reproduce the entire sound world we created in the studio and present it live without any compromises." And this sound world has become larger on "Nothing Left Behind" - broader, bolder, and more colorful than previous Bryant albums.
Bryant describes the production of "Nothing Left Behind" as a true team process, driven by trust and mutual inspiration. "Everyone could leave their own mark - you can hear that too. It's not my album; it's ours. Everyone in the band brings different musical backgrounds that naturally flow into the songs." While Bryant was intensively involved in the pre-production phase and laid the creative foundations, guitarist Marc Raner took on the role of producer during the final recordings and post-production, ensuring that the band's vision was realized down to the last detail. The team was supported by sound engineer Martin Meinschäfer, known for his work with Henrik Freischlader, who realized the recording and mix to perfection. "I was in a vulnerable phase," says Bryant. "For years, I masked a lot with alcohol. Now that I'm sober, I had to rediscover myself - and Marc helped me musically accompany this process. We didn't just want to make a classic blues rock album. We were looking for songs that we love and that work, regardless of labels."
"Nothing Left Behind" sounds like a new beginning - the liberation of a musician who no longer needs masks. "I hope the album reaches new listeners while also speaking to those who have been with me for a long time," says Bryant. "We put our hearts into it - and I hope you can hear that." The result is a varied, dynamic album that emotionally touches and captivates with energy. It is the sound of an artist who hides nothing and holds nothing back.
