Alkaline Trio celebrates Halloween with the release of their new single "Surprise Surprise." The new single lives up to its name, featuring one of the most sonically restrained and vulnerable performances in Alkaline Trio's history.

The band's singer and guitarist, Matt Skiba, says about the song: "‘Surprise Surprise’ was written inspired by and for a friend of mine who grew up poor and was deeply rooted in gang life, only to become a Navy SEAL and eventually an astronaut. It’s his story, combined with my own thoughts on how a kind of alchemy takes place when someone takes the experiences of a bad situation and transforms them into something profound and beautiful. The rough draft of the song only had verse and chorus parts, but no bridge, which Dan wrote in the studio. This song was the last of the three we did in this session with Travis Barker, and it was even more of a collaboration and studio work than the previous two."
Alkaline Trio recently completed a North American tour supporting Blink 182, as well as playing some selected headliner shows and festival dates.
