"Hanging Onto You" is inspired by two different sources: the heartfelt, emotional intensity of traditional Latin American and Mexican love songs and the classic punk love songs from bands like Buzzcocks, The Rifles, and Ramones. The result is a song that sounds both familiar and new, offering a glimpse into a new creative chapter for the band.
"We wanted to create a song that is honest and vulnerable, something everyone can relate to," the band explains. "The song depicts a situation we’ve all been in – not being quite perfect, but always ready to give our all."
The single was produced by the band along with Dan Lucas at The Joplin House, with mixing by Riff Audio and mastering by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room. It also features Kevin Bivona (The Interrupters) on Hammond organ, synthesizers, and piano.
The track comes with a video directed by Nick Suchak of Ramshackle Productions, capturing the raw, unfiltered energy of a live performance by Grade 2. Already tested in recent setlists, "Hanging Onto You" has quickly established itself as a natural addition to their fan-favorite material.
