David Holland, former drummer of the hard rock band Judas Priest, has been convicted by a court in Northampton, England, for attempted rape and multiple counts of sexual abuse against a 17-year-old drumming student. The 55-year-old denied the allegations. A 22-year-old co-defendant was acquitted on four charges.
According to the prosecution, the victim was a learning-disabled boy. He had stayed overnight at Holland's house in England multiple times and confided the abuse to his parents in a letter in December 2002.
Holland joined Judas Priest in 1979 and remained a member of the band during its most successful period for ten years. Some of the group's biggest hits include "You've Got Another Thing Coming", "Living After Midnight", and "Hell Bent for Leather".
Holland left Judas Priest in 1989. Singer Rob Halford departed four years later to pursue a solo career. However, last July, Halford announced he would return to the band for a world tour and a new album.
