Blondie
announce deluxe reissue of their legendary comeback album No Exit from 1999 – available from October 31 via BMG
No Exit, Blondie's triumphant comeback from 1999 after 17 years of silence, will be released on October 31 via BMG in a newly remastered and expanded deluxe edition. For the first time ever on vinyl, the release marks a tribute to one of the most important albums in the band's history – and celebrates Blondie's remarkable second spring: the album that brought the legendary band back to the creative center and the world stage.
The No Exit deluxe edition will be available digitally as well as in three physical formats: as a 2CD set, on crystal clear 2LP vinyl, and as a classic black double LP. All versions include the newly remastered original album – featuring the global hit "Maria" – plus remixes, new liner notes, and "Hot Shot," a song that was previously only released in Japan and is now available worldwide for the first time, enhanced by David Wrench (David Byrne, The Pretenders, Frank Ocean). The reissue was produced by Tommy Manzi and Steve Rosenthal, with mastering by Jessica Thompson.

The artwork also receives an update: Rob Roth, photographer and creative director of the original album, has taken on the redesign. Roth, a close companion of Debbie Harry and Chris Stein and now a prominent figure in the New York art scene, shot the original images in the legendary club Mother – a place that encapsulated the thrill of surveillance, sexuality, and spectacle in the late 90s. "I was almost obsessed with the idea of surveillance back then," Roth recalls. "It made perfect conceptual and artistic sense to me." For the reissue, he combined archival material with new elements – creating a contemporary, visually powerful reimagination.
No Exit began as an almost hopeless project – after years of separation, individual successes, financial difficulties, and the urge to make music together again. Yet from this emerged one of the most celebrated comebacks of the late 90s. Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, and Jimmy Destri reunited, first in Stein's basement studio in Tribeca, later in the legendary Electric Lady Studios and at Chung King. With bassist Leigh Foxx and guitarist Paul Carbonara, two long-time companions became permanent members of the band. This new chemistry gave the album its drive – and allowed Blondie to rise again, harder, sharper, and with unbroken energy.
The return was led by producer Craig Leon, a key figure of the New York punk era, who had previously worked with the Ramones, Suicide, Talking Heads, and Richard Hell. Leon, who also oversaw Blondie's first single "X Offender" in 1976, brought both continuity and raw energy. Using vintage equipment from the now-closed Blank Tape Studio, the sessions captured exactly what made Blondie: renewal without predictability. "We deliberately wanted to avoid anything predictable – and still sprinkle in a few of those little pop numbers that Blondie is known for," says Debbie Harry.
Blondie's No Exit deluxe edition will be released digitally, on 2CDs, and on crystal clear 2LP vinyl and as a classic black double LP via BMG on October 31, 2025.

For over four decades, Blondie has been a true global icon – an unwavering force whose influence has shaped the worlds of music, fashion, and art and continues to inspire today. From the cheeky punk collective of the Lower East Side to international ambassadors of New York cool, Blondie embodies that punk spirit that still moves generations. Their fearless vision, commercial triumph, and rare longevity earned the band induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 – and to date, over 40 million albums sold worldwide.
With the groundbreaking rock-disco hybrid "Heart of Glass," the genre-defying innovation of "Rapture," the raw power of "One Way or Another," and the airy charm of "The Tide Is High," Blondie has redefined the musical landscape: they brought punk to the dance floor, opened a wide audience to hip-hop sounds – and created a body of work full of timeless, generation-defining hits.
