The Southern California roots rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck continue their release offensive for their upcoming album "Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes" with their new single "I Wanna Give It," which is now available through Journeyman Records, the label of Joe Bonamassa.
Created during that quiet, uncertain time when tours were on hold due to the pandemic, "I Wanna Give It" is a song full of nostalgic warmth – inspired by long nights on the porch in San Juan Capistrano, jamming with friends. "It felt like the old days," recalls lead guitarist Henry James. "We played acoustically until the early morning hours – just to clear our heads." Together with longtime companions Ian Cullen and Shane Krevoy (who also co-wrote the fan favorite "Oh Miss Carolina"), the song was sketched out – then refined in the studio by Dave Cobb, who has a fine sense for the melancholic interplay of country and rock. The result: a track that sounds as personal as a diary entry – yet feels immediately familiar.
Lyrically, "I Wanna Give It" tells of a kind of love that knows no fear – yet is still unsure of where it leads. "It's not a story with a happy ending," says James, "but one without regret. Love can blind us – but it can also make us live more boldly. And that's exactly what we should all allow ourselves to do."

Since their formation in 2011, Robert Jon & The Wreck – consisting of Robert Jon Burrison (vocals, guitar), Henry James (lead guitar, vocals), Andrew Espantman (drums, vocals), Warren Murrel (bass), and Jake Abernathie (keys) – have built a loyal international fanbase. With relentless touring and songs that tell stories of heartbreak, hope, and redemption, they have carved out their place in the roots rock present – and reaffirm it with every release.
Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes was mixed by Greg Gordon, who has previously worked with Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, and Rival Sons. The album will be released on CD, digitally, and in a limited edition on colored vinyl. Additionally, there will be exclusive merchandise bundles with a shirt and bandana.
The band recently completed their summer tour in Europe, with shows in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium – including strong performances at the Hookrock Festival and the legendary Melkweg venue in Amsterdam. Back in the USA, Robert Jon & The Wreck are now preparing for a packed August, with headliner shows and festival gigs, including the Fargo Blues Festival, Stone Pier, Madison Ribberfest, and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival.
