Since their founding in late 2020, PLAIINS from Hamburg have been on a steamroller. They have already shared the stage with bands like ITCHY, Cold Years, LEAP, Press Club, and many others, and signed with Long Branch Records last year. Their debut album "Happy Faces" will be released on August 15, 2025, and today we get the next preview with "Do One"!
"Ahh, 'Do One', that's one of my favorite songs on the album and says so much about the strange encounters I've had over the years with people in the music industry, it's all based on real experiences," says frontman Chris Reardon. "I remember that the whole first verse came to me on the train, and I had written the guitar riff for the verse a few days earlier and recorded it on my phone with an acoustic guitar. When I met up with the guys and showed it to them, I remember they all laughed heartily, which is always a good sign for PLAIINS because it means everyone is super excited and eager! From there, we all worked on it and built the song up step by step. It's quite complex with its quirky breaks and time changes. We then developed the song further with our producer Manuel Renner in pre-production and had already played it live many times, which really helped. The whole spoken part about the Korean market, BTS, and Black Pink comes from the original demo of the very first session. It's always nice when that happens, and I think you can hear it. First take, not overthinking it, and just hoping everything lands in the right place, which luckily it did! But yes, there isn't much to explain lyrically, it's all there, my dad is from England and my mum is from Hong Kong, you idiot! ;)."

Plaiins have already released more than twenty songs and with their album "Happy Faces" are now reaching the peak of their unstoppable momentum. The band was founded by British-born singer Chris Reardon, who moved from London to Hamburg in 2020. Together with his bandmates Dizzy Suhlrie and Flo Kaninck, and inspired by the new city, Plaiins offer a unique blend of British punk, indie, and rock, with influences traceable to bands like IDLES, Hives, Soft Play, Bad Nerves, The Streets, and Viagra Boys.
