HEAVEN SHALL BURN – are the disruptors with "Confounder," a new song and video from the album "Heimat" (June 27, 2025)
After HEAVEN SHALL BURN released "My Revocation of Compliance" from the new album "Heimat" in early April, today sees the release of the second single, "Confounder," complete with a video. "Confounder" is their anthem celebrating self-determination, independence, and autonomous thinking, while ultimately advocating for community and mutual support. The band states: "Like an invisible force, the prevailing conditions in our societies deform and mistreat each individual. Consumer terror, fear campaigns, and sham debates scream at us from all media, numbing important values for community and democracy such as tolerance, solidarity, and independent thinking. Standing against this and providing a clear stance within one's own bubble as an example that deviates from the madness of everyday life is what we want to promote with this song and its video. Be the disruptor!"
"Heimat" – a term that, when viewed soberly and objectively, merely refers to a relationship between people and spaces, yet has always been highly emotionally charged. Often misused, it sometimes causes discomfort, lively discussions, and struggles over interpretation. Maik Weichert (guitar) comments: "Heimat is not, as it is for haters and populists, the narrow-minded endpoint, but the starting point of considerations and perspectives. The album addresses many homelands of various people and also the spiritual homeland, that which shapes and determines our thinking and actions." For the successor to "Of Truth And Sacrifice," which reached number 1 on the Official German Album Charts in 2020, HEAVEN SHALL BURN took the necessary time. "Heimat" was produced in the band's own studio, The Dude Ranch, operated by guitarist Alexander Dietz. As in the past, Danish producer Tue Madsen provided the finishing touches in mixing and mastering. For the artwork, the Thuringians once again enlisted the renowned artist Eliran Kantor. The centerpiece of the impressive triptych is a rearing stag – in its roaring variant, a classic motif of wildlife painting, embodying kitsch and trivial art from the 19th and 20th centuries, and interpreted by some as a symbol of patriarchy and capitalist competition, yet here placed as a vital allegory of resistance amidst an apocalyptic scene. Flanking it are a hunting lynx and a vigilant owl, which complete the symbolically charged artwork concept as further elements of the triptych. As with "Of Truth And Sacrifice," HEAVEN SHALL BURN collaborated with composer, producer, and director Sven Helbig and conductor Wilhelm Keitel, this time supported by the Mondëna Quartet and the Ukrainian Sophia Chamber Choir.
