From his work in the explosive early Hollywood punk music scene with his band The Plugz to producing bands like The Gun Club, film scores, his notable acting career, and founding Fatima Records – Tito Larriva truly deserves the title the LA Times once bestowed upon him: "Renaissance Man".
The Plugz, founded in 1978 in Los Angeles by Tito Larriva, were inspirational for the early Latino/Latinx punk community, and their "West Coast Punk" had a lasting influence on entire generations of rock bands.
Connoisseurs of Latino culture praised the band for their unconventional version of "La Bamba" and their influence on Chicano/Xicanx rockers in Southern California.
With "Hombre Secreto", a Spanish version of the 60s classic "Secret Agent Man", Larriva brought his unique touch to the film score of the cult classic "Repo Man". His career continued to evolve from there, with key milestones including his work as a producer on the cast album of the "Pee-Wee Herman Show" and the debut "Fire of Love" by The Gun Club, his role as an actor in David Byrne's "True Stories", and the formation of The Cruzados in 1984. In 1992, The Cruzados evolved into the band Tito & Tarantula, marking the beginning of Larriva's intense working relationship with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. He appeared in half a dozen of their films, including "From Dusk Till Dawn", where his song "After Dark" and his musical performance in the legendary "Titty Twister Club" play a legendary role.
Now, Tito & Tarantula are releasing their highly anticipated album "!Brincamos!". The new work is a sonic journey that explores the depths of the human soul, infused with the raw power of rock and the rich heritage of Latino/Latinx punk rock. Each track is a testament to Larriva's ability to transcend boundaries, genres, and language, creating a sound that resonates with fans around the world. With raw ballads and emotional rock anthems, Larriva has crafted a musical masterpiece with "!Brincamos!" that honors the legacy of Tito & Tarantula.
In addition to the release of this album, Tito & Tarantula are currently preparing for their "!Brincamos!" European tour to bring their notorious live performances to the stages of the European continent.
