In the last third of the WONACH WIR SUCHEN single and video marathon, here comes the opener of the album Mauern. It's called 'Sommer aus' and does what good openers do - it pushes forward. And it really does. The drums sound as if they can't wait to start, the rest of the band kicks in, and the vocals begin right away.
The content also doesn't shy away from hard topics - "In meinem Kopf herrscht Winter, von Spätsommer bis April" is the first line. Okay, it's about depression, which intensifies in winter but doesn't disappear in summer; it just becomes a bit easier to bear.
What’s special here is the approach taken. The music is at times very cheerful, especially in the chorus, where there are very humorous wordplays that don't come off as cheesy, and the overall mood of the song captures the heaviness of the topic in its positivity, delivering an incredibly danceable song about mental health issues.
