This album is simply another collection of reflections and stories, everyday life and insights that we all come into contact with at some point,” says the ultimate folk troubadour, punk pioneer, and fly fisherman CHUCK RAGAN about his new album “Love And Lore”, which is being released today via Rise Records / BMG. The creation is usually the most exciting part of the process, and the opportunity to share the songs with others is always a blessing.
The lead single “Aching Hour” is classic Chuck Ragan and can be accessed here:

His first studio solo release since Till Midnight in 2014 is worth the wait. Classic Rock History writes: “Chuck Ragan's music is always worthwhile and truly memorable, whether through sheer punk rock rage or his expressive, contemplative solo recordings.” Idioteq calls the album his “most compelling work to date... His voice, weathered yet determined, conveys themes that resonate deeply: the pull between home and the road, the relentless pursuit of balance in a life that rarely offers it.”
The writing and recording for the album began back in 2016, and studio work started in 2019, but with the emerging Covid protocols, Love And Lore was put on hold while he focused on his family life and his fly fishing business in Grass Valley, California. “We seriously started working on this album again in 2022, but I didn’t have much time for it because I was physically exhausted and had a toddler,” he admits. It was pure chaos. (This included a tree falling on the house of guitarist/pedal steel/multi-instrumentalist Todd Beene). Ultimately, Love And Lore was recorded in early 2023. The result is an album that shows Chuck continuing to go beyond the label of “folk” to create a collection of songs where he expands as a songwriter and fearlessly explores new sonic territories.
Chuck Ragan, who has had an impressive stage presence for three decades, played his first solo show over 30 years ago and has been writing campfire anthems since he was 12 years old. Growing up in the Southeast and raised by his Southern family in Louisiana and Florida, he toured the world with the groundbreaking punk band Hot Water Music and as a solo artist. Chuck conceived the Revival Tour in 2005, one of the most anticipated tours in North America, Europe, and Australia since its inception in 2008.
With punk rock greats like Frank Turner, Dave Hause (The Loved Ones), Jenny Owens Young, Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio), and many others, the Revival Tour was a kind of festival that brought together artists from various genres to jam on stage as a musical collective. Ragan has undertaken extensive tours around the globe over the last two decades and has become a household name in both the folk and punk scenes.
In early 2025, Chuck will tour extensively in Germany with his band:
