After two celebrated EPs and a completely sold-out tour in late autumn 2023, Paula Carolina announces her debut album "EXTRA" for September 27, 2024. Today, a new single titled "Otto Normal" is released. In autumn 2024, she will embark on the largest tour of her career to date.
Unpleasantly nervous times call for pleasantly nervous music - neon-colored anthems against the constant gray, carefree statements against the daily dose of frustration. Over the past few months, Paula Carolina has written numerous such anthems - a whole album's worth. Following two celebrated EPs and a completely sold-out tour in late autumn 2023, the globetrotter in a safety vest will finally release her long-awaited first full-length album "EXTRA" on September 27.
Between indie pop, NNDW, and future punk, mosh pits and group cuddling, village anecdotes and urban tales, Paula repeatedly manages to stand between rather than above things. Her art is opinionated but never devoid of fun; it is cheeky but never dogmatic or slogan-like; it is mainstream without ever having aimed for mainstream; it is loud without being boisterous. Paula-Carolina music thrives on observational skills and enthusiasm, on associative thought ping-pong, catchy earworm moments, and refreshing cheekiness.

The best example of Paula Carolina's unmistakable sound, songwriting, and style DNA? Her latest creation, the maximally pulsating single "Otto Normal," which recently went viral in snippets on TikTok and Instagram. Accompanied by melodic guitar riffs, cosmic synth staccatos, and whip-cracking claps, Paula captures the madness of the supposedly normal with an NDW-esque vocal melody. The piece was created in the Allgäu, in the eye of the bourgeois idyll. Here, time ticks differently than in Berlin - this has inspired Paula but also disturbed and upset her.
"EXTRA" preserves the self-created cosmos in which Paula Carolina has creatively flourished since 2021 and has since evolved from a support act to a style icon. This cosmos has long become a safe space - for a remarkably diverse circle of people with a heart in the right place and inexhaustibly positive energy.
Paula Carolina's debut album "EXTRA" will be released on September 27, 2024.
