Report AFD Saturday May 14

Saturday started relatively early at Bar 95. And as it should be for a sports bar, of course, there was live football for our friends from Dresden (Die Kellerratten) with the live broadcast of Dynamo against Offenbach.

It certainly has its charm when a Dresden band cheers for Dresden while the bar gradually transforms into red and white to drink away the impending relegation of the farmers' club Viersen Süd.

A toast to F95.

In any case, we now jump back to the concert routine, this time much more Düsseldorf than the day before and with a much thicker program.

The beginning was made by the still very fresh band "Progress Utopia" featuring My Terror drummer Bo, who simply begged me to let them perform as the so-called sound check band.

It was early (6:30 PM), it was still empty, but it was monstrously loud, and I couldn't believe the sounds coming from the stage. This band has only recently come together, but they played here as if they had been together for years. Finest shouts blend with many melodic vocals. Progressive metal with a good dose of hardcore. A successful start that truly convinced and would have triggered a monstrous mosh pit at a later time.

After the changeover break, the planned start with my friends from Circus Rhapsody from Berlin, who had already besieged me at home in the early hours, finally took place.

However, we faced the same problem as the day before; there was simply a noticeable emptiness, which showed us that Düsseldorfers tend to celebrate later. But this didn't bother the extremely likeable horror-punk trio at all. They took the stage and celebrated the people who were there. Musically, they leaned towards the Misfits, Blitzkid, and co., but with flair. It was fantastic and made us crave for much more...

After a delay due to a technical problem with the band The Noids, who were supposed to take the stage next, punk, which has been declared dead for years, made a comeback. 77 punk rock with a pinch of German punk increased the number of spectators significantly. A good performance from a band that stepped in last minute for the canceled "Fahrlässig" and took the stage for themselves.

The evening got later, it got darker outside, and more night owls came into BAR 95 to finally start the party... and with the band Korsakow, a party was celebrated. Full-blooded Fortunen who came for one single purpose. To let loose. To entertain everyone in this club loudly and brutally. Everything one expects from a concert was fulfilled. Headbangers stood at the edge of the stage, pogo was also present, and there were free shots so that singer Dörk could be pelted with empty plastic cups. And finally, the new Fortuna anthem "Ohne uns" was sung along loudly even in the last rows.

Korsakow fired off a sensational starting shot for an absolutely awesome finale of the Against Frost Dead Festival. Afterwards, the young heroes of Daily Peace Project took the stage immediately. The finest, best alternative rock with such a high and amazing performance I haven't seen in a long time, and I was visibly surprised that such a great band was on stage. Songs from the current EP "Quintessence" were played, as well as the hit video "here we are".

Frontman Marrek had his pack firmly in control in front of the stage, which noticeably increased the joy of playing. It was a great show from a great band from Düsseldorf.

And finally, as headliners who truly earned their name that evening, My Terror took the stage, which had to be significantly expanded by the agile frontman Schröder. High-energy hardcore blasting from the speakers is simply fantastic.

Half of the room, regardless of whether there were people or not, was simply used as a stage.

The entire band radiated energy and transferred all of it into the last reserves of the audience.

This is how it should be, a conclusion of a great festival that has built up in every moment.

The purpose of this festival, namely to highlight that homelessness still exists in Düsseldorf, was not forgotten. Although not much came of it, at least a plus of 250 euros was raised, which goes to the Trebecafe in Düsseldorf.

And for that, I just want to say thank you, and do so officially.

I want to thank all the bands except One Step Ahead for traveling hundreds of kilometers to be part of it.

To the entire Düsseldorf band faction for clearly showing that you have anything but a dead scene.

To Bar 95 for this fantastic support and the opportunity to play there, in a good and beautiful ambiance.

Oh, I could go on like this for hours....

All guys and girls.....That's Rock'n'Roll....

AFD 2 will come.
