TEAM TYSON, was the predecessor band TYSON, which I saw many years ago just before New Year's at Wild at Heart in Berlin? Or is this a different band that simply has a love or at least some connection to Mike Tyson? As fast as the band plays, Mike Tyson has rarely thrown combinations, but definitely just as effectively.
TEAM TYSON offers 13 songs in 20 minutes on “Is This All There Is Now?” Already these two pieces of information show that no prisoners are taken.
The band plays a powerful, hectic punk rock sound with German lyrics. This sounds somewhat reminiscent of the legendary The Shocks with fatter guitars and clearer vocals or, even further away, of old Rasta Knast on coke.
The noisy 20-minute ride offers the inclined listener everything needed to go crazy and get their head washed.
From the cynical “Buy Yourself Happy” to the hyper-fast “You’re Spinning in Circles,” which express anger and helplessness in short lyrics, to the almost Dadaistic pogo banger “What Time Is It?” the band’s aggressive sound ranges widely.
However, the music, especially the lyrics of “Too Little Money and Dull Free Time,” are almost harmless. It sounds like daydreaming until it then reminds one in the second part of the lyrics of the songs “Terrorist” and “Beautiful” by Zaunpfahl, albeit with a different sound than that of the band from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
With “IV. Reich in the Small Town,” a clear stance against the right-leaning small-town bourgeoisie is taken in record time.
There is really little to criticize here.
Everything fits, and I look forward to hopefully seeing the band live soon.
