Hardly has the new album by PROLLIGANS been released, and they are already following it up with another record. On this record, the Saarlanders meet the coastal skins THE BONKERS.
Ten songs, one of which is sung together, and each band covers one song from the other. The remaining seven songs are then tracks from the respective bands. The Saarlanders contribute four songs, while THE BONKERS contribute three.
So, it's a well-rounded package.
We will drape the cloak of blindness and deafness over the title, but especially over the cover. Some malicious tongues might interpret the cover, which depicts brown shit with the cheerful boys standing in it, differently.
THE BONKERS and PROLLIGANS should mean something to every Oi fan. The bands themselves are happy to include rockers, drinkers, and hooligans. Musically, it fits, and probably some Onkelz fans will also enjoy the music.
The ten songs primarily deal with alcohol in all its facets.
The songs by PROLLIGANS are overall catchier both musically and lyrically, and they hit hard. For the Saarlanders, it's not just about alcohol, but also about solidarity, which is particularly emphasized by the skins. Sure, it's a skinhead band, but this whole “skins against the rest of the world” singing can become quite annoying in the long run. It's the same groove that Onkelz have always struck, building their cult and invoking it time and again.
THE BONKERS from Rostock stand out with their song “Blauzone” from the whole Oi scene. It sounds like Motörhead in German. Bands like The Dukes from Berlin send their regards. But there are some riffs that seem to be borrowed from Lemmy, right? The other songs from the Rostock band have deeper lyrical content and are best endured with a blood alcohol level of one per mille or higher. Sober, they can sometimes hit hard on the stomach.
“Shit from Full Pipes” is surely a feast for skins who can handle their alcohol and their friends. This will definitely blast from the portable radio at the first barbecue.
