CHURCH OF CONFIDENCE from Berlin are releasing a new album. It is their eighth studio album and their first album in nine years.
The album “(S)hit Explosion“ is a cover album with twelve songs that is quite different from other cover albums out there.
Why is that?
Well, for one, the band has chosen some very special songs, and on the other hand, the band led by mastermind Uli does not simply play the songs twice as fast or try to play them in a completely different way. Each song has undergone a very individual, if not to say loving, treatment.
With the album “(S)hit Explosion“, the head of the band also showcases and processes his musical influences. Even though Uli doesn’t look it, he has a few years under his belt. In his younger years, he was significantly influenced by the sound of the '70s. So it’s no surprise that you can hear songs from Sweet, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, Slade, Deep Purple, or even Rod Stewart and Smokie here.
Whaaat?! Some might exclaim in shock.

The musical talent and especially the creativity that resides in the mind and instruments of the band is fully showcased on this, their eighth album.
There are rocking tracks that are on par with the originals. There are fluffy songs with catchy melodies that evoke good moods and loud sing-alongs. Pop guitar sounds from days gone by meet Southern rock numbers that I would hardly expect from a German band.
In short, the band showcases their entire musical prowess here.
You hardly notice that these are songs that many would normally not even touch with a ten-foot pole. Who really loves the music of Smokie or Rod Stewart?
In addition to the musical talent, Uli's distinctive voice comes into play, which combines rock 'n' roll, rock, and blues in his unique style. Anyone who has liked his voice so far will love this album. Promised and guaranteed!
There’s also some musical education to be had. Who knew that the first seconds of one of the most famous songs by Die Ärzte were borrowed from Sweet?
CHURCH OF CONFIDENCE were once referred to as the most underrated punk rock band in Germany. Whether everything on “(S)hit Explosion“ is punk rock is up for debate. What cannot be debated is that a magnificent musical work has been created here, bringing together history and the present, and hopefully not being found as the most underrated album of the band in just a few record cabinets.
The album will be released on the Berlin label “Smith & Miller Records“ as vinyl and will see the light of day on 14.03.2025, and will be presented live at Wild at Heart in Berlin-Kreuzberg on 22.03.2025. It’s going to be a celebration!
